Sign up questions

Postby Happyman » Tue Apr 17, 2018 4:04 pm

Just to let the administrators know that the questions asked to sign up this board are so confusing, it took me 7 attempts over 2 days before I could get one right!

I cut and pasted some of them.

"A mission that can never be completed is a what Bridge Job?:"
I have no idea.

"Which string of characters includes an ampersand: hggg679) %h*9&77 khh)+"£ ~{Hnnbn "*~@mn,.:"
This was split over 3 lines so I couldn't even see where each string ended and the next began.

"Which Bridge is falling down, according to the nursery rhyme?:"
London Bridge. Than answer was wrong apparently.

"In words, how many of the tenth letter of the alphabet are in the word "Mississippi"?:"
I answered 'zero'. Wrong.

Some of the questions repeated themselves.

Could you not ask a maths question instead?

Thank you for your feedback. Periodically this board gets inundated with spammers - as a group of mods we can delete a hundred of the things in one day.

We have found that setting questions such as these helps slow them down, but then after a few weeks someone works out the answers and we get another deluge.

But the point is fair.
Drafting such questions is not as easy as it looks. There has to be only one possible exact and obvious answer.
