Complaint procedure

Postby Brownhills » Thu Apr 12, 2018 10:37 am

Hi
Just received back from my solicitors their response to my complain. Some 30 pages long. They have requested that I respond in 14 days which is impossible for me.
How long do I get, they took approx. 8 weeks to respond to my complaint.

Ask for more time. Explain why you need it.

Just keep things moving. Take the high ground, and show them how it should be done. If you kow you will not be able to reply within that time scale, write and say so and give a time which is defined by your tasks and capabilities, not by their deficiencies.

I think that if I really needed 30 pages to reply to a complaint, I would begin my response with an "executive summary" which summarises the conclusions.

This is how I often go about longer letters of advice.
