there are quite a few relay swims - of Windermere, the Channel and otherwise. No baton (where would you put it?)

My understanding is that they are called "budgies" and that swimmers "smuggle" them.

Oh, I don't know...once you hit the cold water there should be plenty of room. ;)

If the water is that cold, the budgies tend to be tiny.
