The 'from which' refers back to the noun - the weapon. The 'barrelled' is an adjective describing the weapon.

It depends on the precise legal meaning of "from"; does it mean from within?

No. It could have if it had said 'from within'. It didn't.

This perhaps all shows how a very simple type question has some real depths.

Specifically whether it comes from within said barrel. Whatever way you look at it, the weapon in question fires the projectile from the barrel.

My finely tuned argument appears to have come to nought as I have been informed that the barrel has a constriction at the muzzle which prevents an object being inserted inside the barrel. This leaves the question of whether the projectile must be fired from within the barrel. I think DLS has it when he says that the wording could have said 'from within'. Whether by accident or design this would make it easy for a court or the Home Office to interpret it the way they choose.
