Costs for abandoned prosecution

Postby TenaciousB » Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:17 pm

I was summonsed to a magistrate's court, I appeared at a plea hearing, the CPS dropped the charges, but not before I'd spent days preparing.

What costs can I claim? I followed all the instructions to claim costs on the gov.uk website but it appears they only apply to lawyers. I did everything myself without lawyers.

In civil litigation there are scales for the rates LIPs may claim. I wonder if in criminal procedure there is something similar.

Obviously you will be able to collate any actual expenses.

Do not expect generosity - or even fairness.
