Uncoroborated rape cases

It is well known that in many cases of aledged rape the only evidence is the accused word.

Do many cases like this ever go to trial?
if yes, how? How can such a case ever be strong enough?

The initial accusation, Statements made during investigation and testimony in court.

I am talking about cases where the ONLY evidence is the claim the aledged victim has made

well known or not well known aside.

It is known that the victims testimony is often the only evidence
Frequently this is the case in cases where the only issue in dispute is consent (due to the none physical nature of this element) and in some cases the
Sometimes it is the case where all aspects of the crime are disputed (due to the fact it often happens in private)

My question refers to these cases
