Why do violent crime and sexual offences come under the same heading on local crime figurers?

I don't see slapping someone outside a pub the same as putting your hand up a ladies skirt?

Putting your hand up a woman's skirt is a violent crime.

Most sexual offences will also amount to an assault, which is by its nature an offence of violence.
