Inciting Racial Hatred...

Postby Hairyloon » Thu Jan 12, 2017 6:16 pm

West Midlands Police has said the home secretary's speech to last year's Conservative Party conference is being treated as a "hate incident".

In the speech, Amber Rudd suggested tightening rules that allow UK firms to recruit workers from overseas.

An Oxford University professor complained to the force claiming Ms Rudd was using "hate speech" to foster support for her political aims.

But West Midlands police said no crime had been committed.

Does "foreign" count as race now?

It is a story made from nothing.

The police record allegations. An allegation is made. Whatever its value, and I judge it not, it is recorded.

I believe that the guidance as to whether an incident is to be treated as racially motivated is if anyone thinks it is. Whether it is considered a crime is another matter.

Being "anti-foreigner" can be unlawful discrimination.

It's the BBC doing what the BBC do best, banging the drum of racism. Doing their best to deter anyone from speaking out against 'migrants' for fear of being arrested.

Is it? I read it as the BBC reporting a news story in a balanced way, including comments from those who thought that the notion of the speech being a 'hate incident' was nonsensical. Hard to hear any drum banging going on there, I'm afraid.

If it was that 'nonsensical' then why bother to report it in the first place? Nobody else did.

Some are suggesting this lot are inciting racial hatred:

I'm not managing to find any arguments as to why it isn't...
