Sorry to spoil the holiday spirit, bu I have to say that an avowed intent to do whatever he can to make sure we stay in Europe, makes Adnois an obvious candidate for the chop.

He is entitled to his belief, He is entitled to do what he properly can to achieve what he believes. Being a substantial part in the execution of a major government policy to the contrary disentitles him to any credibility.

So what he sees going on around him is of no relevance, if he is not a dyed in the wool Brexit fanatic. Fair enough.

Has he in fact made such a vow?
He has said that he will oppose the Withdrawal Bill, but I understood that to be because it is dreadful legislation rather than because it helps to take us out of Europe.

I have just read his resignation letter. It is very much more political than I had been given to understand by other reports I have read. His very political points are of course right, but they made it difficult for him to continue with a government appointment. Indeed, I find it hard to see how he stayed so long.

Has he in fact made such a vow?

Yes - if not in those precise terms, then not far short.

Where/when?
There is nothing of the sort in his letter of resignation. https://twitter.com/Andrew_Adonis

Did he make this vow on some sacred text?
