Perhaps if Spain lead by example and relinquished their territories in or around Africa.

The treaty by which Spain gave Gibralter to Britain appears to suggest that in these circumstances, Spain gets to stick an oar in.

Ah, the Treaty of Utrecht, ending the War of the Spanish Succession.

I see that Britain also got valuable slave trading rights out of it. Perhaps Spain would take those back instead.

Clearly some elements are outdated and obsolete, does that void the whole of the thing? If so, then on what basis do we hold Gibraltar?
