When was the last time the government listened to our demands?

They are counting on our stupid complacency.

That and apathy.

Slart is right.

It comes down to politics. Politicians are generally led by the nose by fear.

They have a fear of being criticised if a bomb goes off and people are killed. They have to be more afraid of what people with think when they see that their policies have led to people wanting to bomb us.

They need to have a fear of losing votes when they destroy your freedoms - and privacy is one of the great freedoms.

Exactly. Only one thing drives our politicians*: the fear of losing votes.

*with a very few exceptions.
