I have taken this from a post by hairy on another topic. I post it for information.

If we adopt a policy of using that box any time we edit someone's post, then that should minimise any grounds for complaint, and should certainly eliminate any accusation that is was done deceitfully.


This will be my approach. I cannot speak for the other moderators, but I think that they will do the same.
