Activation

Postby dls » Mon Nov 25, 2013 1:43 pm

We have been having some technical difficulty with the activation system.
Until I have cured it, activation will be by me (poss + mods).

Normal service will be resumed when this is sorted.

In which case, is there anything we are supposed to do other than hit the "activate" button?

The purpose of the activation system is to weed out a few registration bots. Just bear that in mind.

Top tips for recognising them? I guess at random looking names.

I am content that this is my job, so do not worry. I am not even sure if this is something the system allows you to do.

I have found a menu item which suggests that it may repair the email notification systems. I will rty instant activation. We will see whether it leads to any increase / resurgence in spam registrations.

It might help if people are ready to let me know if spam does appear.

For a given value of "ready", yes.

I delete spam when I see it, and ban spammers.
