Curiously, miner doesn't mention the £70,000 fine imposed on the Conservative Party a few weeks ago. Perhaps the news hasn't reached him yet.

Even more curious is the fact that your fellow-Mod didn't mention it! (I seem to recall having read about it but had no reason to retain it in my brain, as they're all as crooked and dishonest as each other!)

Actually because of the 7-hour time difference, I often get news before you do - while you're still tucked up asleep in bed and before I've gone to bed. ;)

My wife and I sometimes surprise our UK and European friends by being in possession of newsworthy European and RoW information before they are.

Stoaty's fellow mod did not pretend to list every instance. He just gave Al an example that is in the news at present.

Miner, please stop making routine personal digs. Then you may have a deal.

IF we can assume the courts are impartial, then can we take the fines as a measure of crooked dishonesty? Or are there other points to consider?

"Yes" is not a good answer to an either/or question.

To me the concerning issue with the original issue isn't even with any commission or rules but that this campaigner can put out this information without fear that the public backlash won't be his downfall.
If you can't talk about the problem, how are you ever going to even start talking about the solution?

Not good enough in your opinion.
My view is that yes is appropriate. :D
