Me: Lucy, did you use the spellchecker?

Lucy: yes!

Me: I thought so.

Letter to client, Mr Devaney, began "Dear Mr Deviancy"!

I heard a (presumably apocryphal) story of the draft contract in which a payment was to be made "per anum" rather than "per annum." It was supposedly returned with the comment "We were under the impression that our client was paying through the nose."

"On the Completion Date [X] shall pay [Y] by telegraphic transfer the sum of £100,000,000."

X was actually only paying £10,000,000

We noticed this at the completion meeting. Cue lots of scrambling round to update the execution versions.

Was that collecting around to execute the solicitors invovled that didn't realise that currency symbols have no meaning and that certain currencies don't use a decimal point but rather an extra comma to denote the extra 'cents'?

I had a pal who was very easily would up. He lived by his dignity.

His office was at 'Cromwell Bottom'. I made sure that ever letter to him was sent to Cromwell's Bottom. Childish, I know, but his dignity never allowed him to object.

A local estate Agent (O'Hearne) mispelled my name in a letter. I wrote back to . . too obvious . . but I did get a call from his secretary saying that it had please several people in his office.
