WTF is the point of ... ?

Bucket lists are just a recipe for disappointment and disenchantment with life. Dave Freeman, who wrote the original 100 Things To Do Before You Die, died at the age of 47 having done about half the things on his list.

I once told my wife that I'd be a millionaire by the time I was 40. She didn't believe me, correctly as it turned out.

Big fan of buckets lists. Its reminder that life is about experiences and you only get one shot at it. We only have one job, and that's to make our lives as awesome as possible. And DLS the bucket list is endless, ticks one off, add one, repeat until, well your're dead or want to add watching an Episode of MUrder she wrote.
If you can't talk about the problem, how are you ever going to even start talking about the solution?

Life is about exleriences? Only if you define the word so broadly as to lose all meaning. What shallow horizons you must have, Alex, if you can reduce the awesomeness of life to a to-do list. Should William Shakespeare have ticked "write a play" off his bucket list after Richard III and not gone on to write any of his other works? Is a life any less awesome because it's not an endless quest for yet another "experience?" (You should read Shakespeare, btw, on the roles that men play in their lives.)

It is interesting that you brought up Murder, She Wrote. Angela Lansbury's father and grandfather were both politicians and social reformers who dedicated their lives to helping others. Her father went to prison for his beliefs. Should we try to make the world a better place, or should we just go bungee jumping instead?

Al also appears to suggest that life should be lived hedonistically. Yes, experiences have value, but we all have responsibilities.

And I have every confidence that even if world peace is a tall order, you will have done something before you die to make the world a better place.

I don't claim to expect to make it a lot better...
