Email notice of joint tenancy

Postby Brownhills » Sun Mar 04, 2018 10:22 am

I want to serve a notice of severance of joint tenancy on my sister who lives in Canada. If she signs it and emails it back, is that document O.K as being her agreement to sever , and if she will not sign it is that suitable evidence to prove I tried.

You do not need her agreement. Send your notice in a letter. e-mail it as well if you wish.

Notify the Land Registry.

As atticus says, service of the notice is adequate to sever the joint tenancy. However, it does no harm to send the notice in duplicate and ask her to sign and return one copy.

It is the service which severs, but still get a receipt.
