It is often unwise to assume that views generally held within your particular bubble are universally held.

So... News update:

Monday: First minister says - I'm going to ask permission to ask for indyref2, because I don't want scotland to leave the EU/Single Market
Tuesday: Eurocrats say If Scotland leaves UK it leaves EU, if UK leaves EU Scotland leaves EU, in fact the only way scotland can stay in the EU is to stop the UK leaving.
Wednesday: Spain says it supports integrity of the UK and will block scotland from joining the EU or any special deal for Scotland
TM: Ask away.. but not until 2021 after we actually know what the deal looks like and we've had a general election
Thursday: SNP say, there's still time to do a special deal for scotland to avoid indyref2, even though spain says it will block a special deal
My suggestions are not legal advice

To avoid indyref2 ........ which isn't taking place anyway before 2021 - if indeed it ever does!

Scotland's First Minister makes a bigger fool of herself and her party every day. She's a "Wee Jimmy Krankie" comedy show, but meanwhile, tragically, the governance of Scotland suffers due to her ineptitude and her obsession with Independence. Someone recently described her as having the negotiating skills of a dead cat.

Furthermore, she has absolutely no plan for Scotland even if it somehow were to gain independence.

The SNP seem to have been elected as a one issue party. What else can we expect then but that they pursue that one issue?

I'm not convinced they are a one issue party, though that may be their habit. I believe that Scotland leans toward socialism and the Scottish Nationals are also Socialist. I know that national socialism turned out badly when it was tried sometime before, but I don't think the problems are intrinsic to the concept.

But they were elected primarily on a manifesto of being not one of the other parties: if you don't want to vote Conservative, Labour or Lib-Dem, then where else are you going to go?

What is to stop Scotland from opening up its polling stations, getting out its ballot boxes and holding the referendum themselves?

They certainly have been a one-issue party since Nicky the Fish took over from took over from Sockeye.

Hairy : the law. The government could go to court and get an injunction.
