Petition to Make London Independent from Britain

Postby Spankymonkey » Sun Jun 26, 2016 7:09 am

Not having the political sensibilities of a seven year old or I've been trying to get my head around how this would work exactly. Not having read "The Mouse that Roared" either I was wondering if anyone could assist me with the constitutional acrobatics that would have to be performed to give a nation of sore losers their European Utopia.

Wouldn't we have to erect a huge border around London, so that all commuters would need their passports to get in and out of work, thereby adding a couple of more hours and some fairly longish cues to their already torturous journeys?

If London was part of the EU and the rest of Britain was not, would that mean there would potentially be about a million more things illegal inside London than outside of it.

Given that the population of London is already at 8.5 million with a landmass of 1,572 km² compared to the 243,610 km² of the whole of Britain, how could the laws of physics and reality be manipulated to ensure that London take in the mandatory quota of migrants each year without it getting ...dare I say... a little bit cramped?

It would be just the City of London.

Not the City of Westminster, or the London Borough of Lambeth?

It would make sense from an economic point of view--purely a 'paper' scheme.

You are right Atticus. I can see how it would all work. Just replace the word 'Burgundy' with 'Brussels'.

I look forward to independence for numbers 1 to 57, Beaufort Street, Skegness. There's a port nearby and if the EU will fund a modestly sized wind turbine, all will be well.
