Overactive Porn filters.

I've just been to look at my favourite mail order meat emporium and found that it has been blocked by my ISP's porn filter. I am reasonably certain that there is no good cause, but clearly this presents the possibility that the chap is losing business.
I have contacted the ISP, but their answer is just to turn off the porn filter. Clearly that is an unsatisfactory answer since anyone else with porn filters who tries to visit the site will be blocked.

It seems to me that it could be defamation. I don't know how these things work, but I guess that the system basically has a flag that says "this site is porn".

Is there a better angle to take?

His best option is to redesign his site and for you to switch off the filter.
- the more people who use them, the more they will claim they are good and accepted.
- Its quite possible that his juicy cuts of meat are being incorrectly classed as a different kind of flesh.

Have you checked to see if he's using :

on his site, you could email him?

Porn adverts here?

The porn filter obviously looks for words. The problem is that some words regarded as potentially pornographic are only vulgar in certain contexts. Sites on highwaymen and field drainage may get blocked. If a meat emporium is blocked it is likely to be because it refers to male chickens.

I find it odd that certain sites have no problem with beheadings or animals being skinned or cooked alive, but nudity is a serious issue.

The last firm I worked with - severeal years ago - employed just such a filter. Sadly it did mean that staff were not allowed to look at certain judgments of the House of Lords and Supreme Court.
