Statute Barred

Statute Barred

If a creditor has pursued a debt through the county court then does that mean the debt does not become statute barred after 6 years in the case of a simple contract?

This is what the shelter website seems to say in the section named 'responsibility for old debts'.

A claim becomes statute barred if the claimant does not commence court proceedings before the limitation period expires.

Thank you. If a claimant commences court proceedings and the court finds in his favour is there a time limit before the courts decision can no longer be enforced? Is that also six years for a simple contract?

If you get judgment a new six year period starts during which the judgment can be enforced.
