He'd made himself the feudal vassal of the Pope as part of his conflict with the Barons. The Pope annulled the Charter on the grounds that King John hadn't got permission to make it, and it offended against his duties to the Pope.

OK, I am not entirely persuaded on that, but moving on: what about the 1216, 1217 and 1225 versions?

Some may argue that if God is omnipotent, then he is responsible for everything: all decisions are effectively made by him...
