No Names, Advice, Details or Adverts
- No Names - You are better not naming yourself. We insist that you do not name any third party.
No Advice - to be either given nor received. We discuss law. Please see the disclaimer below.
No Details - No details such as might allow any third party to identify any particular action.
No adverts - If you want to advertise, please ask and pay. Adverts dressed up as postings are usually spotted as such and are at best ineffective.
Keep it Nice - No personal comments about others.
We _discuss_ the law. We get many things right (and very often better than elsewhere) but also some things wrong. If only you, or I, knew which.
If you want advice, or to give advice, please find a better way. We have a superb mixture of unqualified and qualified people. We have contributors with amazing skills, knowledge, experience and wisdom. Some do not. Some posters cannot see the wood for the trees, and others happily seeking to divine the nature of one tree from a leaf of a neighbouring tree.
Anonymity. It is sensible to remain anonymous. We make no promise of anonymity - courts are perfectly able to order us to disclose what limited records we have of you. Nevertheless, it is sensible to take a username which does not allow you to be identified.
No Privacy. The system allows members to send each other 'PMs' and emails. If you send an email, it leaves our system and control, and we have no access. A PM stays within the system, but is _not_ private. In practice we have no interest in reading them, but there have been occasions when proper complaints have been made about abuse, and the system itself is held in a database which I cannot imagine would be very difficult to hack. There is _no_ client lawyer privilege attached.
GB only (more or less) We discuss the of England and Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, and European law where relevant.
And a reminder of what you agree to when signing up:
"You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where “swarb.co.uk” is hosted or International Law."
We mean it. Keep it nice
