There is a story that I first read in 1989 about a debate in the EU Parliament. Some French MEP was saying "la problème sera résolue par la Sagess Normande". The British and Irish MEPs were in stitches when they heard, in simultaneous translation, that "the problem will be resolved by Norman Wisdom".
