Yes, relocating if you don't like how things are going in your country is a dodfle. Ask any Syrian.

We are talking about 1 camera in 1 location.

And we still end up with shitty, grainy images. Although, I'm sure yours is top of the range, diy! 8-)

Do people have to display a sign saying they have cctv cameras on their property?

I believe that people don't, but organisations do.

Approx £100 each. They are PoE IP cameras connected to my network, with the images stored on one of the family servers, which is backed up to a few locations both synchronously and asynchronously. All pretty simple stuff even for me.

So far we found the biscuit and cake thief. They were duly sentenced to nip down to lidl and buy some more :D

Surely displaying a sign - is like saying "I have to warn you.. I'm a black belt.." ;)
My suggestions are not legal advice

Have we any recommendations on covert cameras?

It depends on the application. Mostly installed inside things like a PIR sensor of a security light.

As I recall, the area is well enough lit by street lights that a security light would seem odd.
I wondered about a dash-cam on her car, but I think that would temp someone to break in and nick it.

Yes, we have them here, but even after spending a fair while trying to set them up so they only light up when someone actually comes down the drive, they sometimes go off when someone walks past the end.

The place we are discussing here has about 10' of garden, then a public footway. I doubt that a light could be set up without it lighting up so often as to become ignored and therefore useless. It would therefore seem a bit odd to fit one IMO.
