most CCJs never paid

most CCJs never paid

Is it true that most CCJs are never paid?
i heard this a long time ago, perhaps it was once true but not so any more.

if yes surely the option of escalating it to high court enforcement officers would make CCJs easy to enforce

Probably, yes.

I suspect that most go unpaid because the debtor is simply unable to pay. No enforcement method will be able to deal with them.

Give it a few years: May yet bring back the debtor's prisons.

The most common reason for non payment of a debt is inability to pay. If a debtor has nothing, that is what his creditor gets.

Several years ago I read that only a quarter of CCJs are paid. I see no reason to think things have improved.

It would be helpful for at least some trade associations to have a requirement to be CCJ free - at least in their professional dealings. The number of builders and associated trades who are riddled with CCJs is huge. It only costs £4 to do a simple check, but its not always accurate, particularly when trading names vary.
My suggestions are not legal advice

Meg, I have just seen that you started a thread on this same subject last year. You got much the same replies.
