Sounds like he is practically unemployable. Any chance he could do something self-employed and claim Working Tax credit?

He's skilled and wants to work.
Alas, his name and reputation goes before him.

I've recommended self employment.

Even if he entirely fails to make any money, WTC is much more than what he's getting at the moment, and probably a fair bit more than JSA after he's paid for all the travelling they want him to do.

Yea. In the meantime he has bills to pay and zero money with which to pay them.

That is medically, legally and morally incorrect.

I agree with my Magrathean friend. Surely there is no binary distinction between people who are completely normally-functional on the one hand, and people who need to be locked up on the other.

Medically, perhaps. Legally, it depends whether you are defending a murder or applying for a firearms certificate. Morally? By who's morals?

Any reasonable person.

Since we are doing neither of those, I struggle to understand your point. Were I feeling uncharitable, I'd find something unkind to say about your desire to turn this conversation round to guns and killing, but I'm noted for my sunny and generous outlook.

Legally, however, it is perfectly clear. The fact that someone acts like a dick from time to time is no reason to lock him up.

Morally? By who's morals?

By the morals of most right-thinking people. Or at the very least, by the morals of people who are not wholly unreasonable and outside the standards of civilised behaviour.

Each one of us thinks that he himself/she herself is reasonableness personified. I know that you will all agree I am.
