Green Waste collection

Postby Mattie » Sat Sep 10, 2016 2:49 pm

Would a County Council be open to challenge if it were to make an additional £40 yearly charge, to what is already paid within CT, for the fortnightly Green Waste collection?

If no

Is the charge enforceable?

A Waste Collection Authority may make a charge for collecting green waste. See the Controlled Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2012.

The England and Wales Regulations apply thousands of miles away? Blimey, Brexit really has had some unexpected effects.

Looking through the legislation in the link, it appears to me to be a EU directive?

No. It is UK legislation. It is made under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. In part, these implement an EU directive.

The introduction to the Regulations give the date on which they were laid before Parliament (15th March 2012).
