0-60 in 2 1/4 seconds..

Postby diy » Thu May 18, 2017 3:34 pm

I've owned some fairly quick motorbikes "back in the day", but I've just come back from a test drive in a model s Tesla P100D with ludicrous mode. Apparently this thing does 0-60 in 2 and 1/4 seconds. Faster than any bike I've ever ridden.

Amazing peace of technology and the auto-pilot was very impressive. But the acceleration is unimaginable. My head and eyeballs now ache.

Electric motors have an inherent advantage over infernal combustion in respect of acceleration in that they deliver maximum torque from a standstill.

My son is working for a specialist car company. It makes a very sexy looking car that does 0-60 in 2.7 secs. 2 litre engine, and British.

If diy has 98 grand to spare I'll put him in touch.

Thanks, but it was kind of the whole package that interested me and the tesla is very much a sleeper looking car. Appearance of a family saloon, performance to leave any blingtastic super car in your rear view. Reality is i can't justify the P100D, but the slower models (which still do it in 5s) are very compelling

It's got a gizmo for that. If you don't touch anything for a few minutes it warns you. If you ignore the warning it pulls over to the side and puts the hazards on.
