Divorce Question.

Postby Earl » Sat May 06, 2017 4:57 pm

Two people want to get divorced. They agree, but there is a lot of negotiations regarding separation of property and therefore money.

Question, given that both parties have demands, which is more likely, the agreement split of properties first, and the signing over of them to each other. Or the divorce
granted and fighting later.
also if two parties are at each others throats could the divorce take years.

My understanding is that the termination of the marriage - the divorce itself - can be relatively quick, with all the argy-bargy about kids, house, money continuing after.

I am pleased to say that I have never practised in family law.

You did well to stay out of that hornets' nest! One of the problems is that so many of the judges within that part of the system are apparently lacking real competence.
